Events Calendar
This community won't be getting a lot of use going forward, technology has moved on and so have a lot of our members.

If you want to view the current calendar list of events you can view them here.

Please also note that there is a Telegram group out there as well as a Facebook community for Hi-4! Entertainment. All three of these will more than likely have more current information on upcoming events.

Thanks so much for being a part of this group, it's not the end... it's just an evolution ;)

Kidz Expo - Saturday, March 5th
Just as a reminder, the Hannaford Kidz Expo event is coming up this saturday. Event officially kicks off at 10am and lasts til 5pm, though if you'll be using the parking garage in the expo I would recommend showing up earlier as it tends to fill quickly. If you are interested in using the parking garage at the event you will be able to park for free with one of the passes I've received from our contact (drop me a note if you need one).

Currently attending:
coyoty
fionnadh
panzier
freakylynx

We currently don't have any handlers, if anyone else is interested in attending (either as a fursuiter or handler) please let me know.

I've attached the complete information sheet I received - I've bolded the important information for our group. For Parking please use the V-Lot (P3 North), fursuits will need to wear a volunteer mascot badge (which I'll get when I arrive and hand out), and general directions on how to get to the garage.

Kidz Expo Information SheetCollapse )

If there's anything I missed, please let me know.

If you are approaching the expo from a different direction from the one listed in the above lj-cut, here are the different approaches from the website:

MS Walk - Sunday May 3rd
As a reminder, the annual Multiple Sclerosis Walk at the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY will take place on Sunday, May 3rd. Normally we arrive around 8:30am so we can enter the changing area without getting in away with their additional preparations for the event. It is scheduled until around 1pm (usually winds down around noon).

We had a great changing area by the locker room in the main open area last year and I've been told we should be able to use it again.

The event takes place at the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY. We will be staying by the main building, hanging out with the parents and kids before and after their walk around the school. It's a smaller event, in the past we've done well with two or three suiters. Definitely need at least one handler for this event, the kids can get a bit energetic and it would be good to have someone watch out for any tailpullers in the bunch.

Plan to meet in the parking lot. If you arrive later than the above time just follow the signs to the registration area and you'll run into either myself or someone else who can direct you to the changing area.

Upcoming Event - Albany Kidz Expo
Another event that our group has been doing for quite a few years now is fast approaching. On Saturday March 7th we have been invited back to the Albany Kidz Expo. Great event with a lot of parents and adults who have enjoyed our presence. I'll post more details soon but as in the past, it takes place from 10am to 5pm at the Empire State Plaza, the convention center under the 'Egg'.

Please let me know if you are interested in attending.

Upcoming Event: Penguin Plunge - Saturday, February 21st
A couple long recurring events are coming up again, the Middletown Penguin Plunge and the Albany Kidz Expo - below are the details for the Plunge. If you are interested in attending please let me know :)

Takes place on Saturday, February 21st. As in previous years, he registration begins at 10am with the actual plunge beginning at noon (In the past we've arrived a bit before 10am to give us time to change and start mingling before it gets too crowded). This'll be our ninth year attending, very fun though short event - and if anyone wants to do the actual plunge this year, please let me know.

Directions to Polish Falcons Nest 519 at Crystal Lake: if you wish to use Google Maps or a GPS, it is at: 144 Prout Hill Road, Middletown, CT 06457 - when you get near the final destination you will see signs and folks instructing on the parking.

People will be registering and wandering around the lodge area from 10am - noon, then they will begin having groups take the plunge. In the past, our group has done a bit of a 'phoney' plunge - fursuiters would line up looking to jump in, run to the edge of the lake and then stop, and one fursuiter would continue into the water - every year of attendance we have had at least one fursuiter interested in taking the plunge. If anyone is interested in doing this (whether the fake line-up or the actual plunge), please let me know. We would need to sign onto the announcement list before the plungers begin jumping into the water. I plan on taking the plunge if no one else is interested, we've had someone go into the lake every year we've attended and it would be a shame to break tradition :)

MS Walk - Culinary Institute of America, May 4th
Just a reminder that the MS Walk at the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park will be taking place this Sunday, May 4th. They would need us to be there by around 8:00am (they asked we be changed and ready by 8:30am). It will last til sometime between 12 and 1pm.

We will have a changing room, there has been construction at the school but I've been assured we'll have an area to change - might have to leave our bags with the people at the registration desk, they haven't confirmed if they'll be able to lock our stuff. The last couple years I changed in a classroom which they couldn't lock and left my bag with the ladies at the main registration area (this actually worked out better than in previous years because I could go in and out of the classroom for a break without getting someone to unlock the door, and then at the end just grabbed my stuff and changed).

If you arrive later than the above time just follow the signs to the registration area and you'll run into either myself or our contact (Lori) they can direct you to the changing area.

Albany Kidz Expo 2014 - Full Details: March 8th event!
As a reminder, we have been re-invited back to the Albany Kidz Expo, scheduled to take place this Saturday March 8th (10am to 5pm). This event has been great every year we've attended and our presence has gone very well with adults and kids alike. We've got the large changing area once again and confirmation on the exhibition table.

Currently the line-up is as follows:

Fursuiters:
coyoty
freakylynx

Handlers:
happypup

I will be manning the exhibition table as long as necessary, we must have at least one person stationed there at all times, but I will be running around in fursuit otherwise. If anyone is interested in manning the table it's super easy, just show off photos from past events our groups have done, hand out candy and flyers with contact info.

If anybody wishes to be added to the line-up please let me know and I'll send you the parking form which will allow you to use the garage under the convention center for free. I know this is an all day event, if you are interested in attending for just part of the day that is fine as well, it remains active throughout.

Under the cut I have attached all the details provided to me. The key things to remember - the event is from 10am to 5pm on Saturday March 8th but if you are using the parking garage you should show up earlier, it tends to fill up quickly.

As stated, I have sent a copy of the parking form to those confirmed as attending, you will need to present this when you arrive. Per the directions you will be parking in the V-Lot (P-3 North)

When you arrive you can contact me (I have not received the location of our table at the event) or if you have attended before you should be familiar with the changing area location (behind the back stage in the main exhibition area).

Directions are located under the cut.

Any questions... drop me a note :D

Penguin Plunge - Saturday, February 22nd: Middletown Connecticut
It looks like there is a change in our contact, going to check again to confirm we'll have access to our usual changing area in the lodge. But as a reminder, this event will be coming up next month on Saturday, February 22nd in Middletown Connecticut. As in the past it has been a short but fun event... and wow, this'll be the ninth year fursuiters have attended!

On a sidenote, I have not heard back regarding the Penguin Plunge yet but I am going to reach out to your contact again this week (normally the PP takes place the last weekend of February).

Festival of Trees, Nov 29th, Dec 1st
Though it was shut down last year for hurricane related reasons it has come back.

The Festival of Trees in Garden City NY takes place at the Cradle of Aviation Museum.

It's a great event that always gets me in the Christmas spirit. There are a lot of kids there, the venue is beautiful and you can ride a carousel in fursuit.

We still have spots open for the Friday and Sunday events.

Volunteer now for this excellent gig.

fursuiting at the texas state fair?
I was just wondering if it had been done before, or if anyone knows if it's allowed.
Should I call ahead and ask about it?

Upcoming event...Long Island Ducks baseball Mascot Day on August 25
Calling all NYC area mascots and fursuiters...it's time once again for Quacker Jack's Mascot Day at the Long Island Ducks baseball game vs. the Somerset Patriots this coming Sunday August 25. Gametime is 5pm, meaning a call time of 3pm. It all takes place at Bethpage Bank Ballpark in Central Islip (Suffolk County) NY.

This has been an annual event hosted by the ballclub for over a decade and RTR has been a part of it every year since it started. The fun evening starts off with a silly mascot dodgeball game just ahead of the regular Atlantic League baseball game, during which time we are free to roam the stands and meet with all the fans at the ballgame. We may even be invited to take part in some of the on-field fan activities between innings.

So if you are interested please get in touch with me as soon as possible. I will need to forward information to the team regarding our participants, including RL names, phone numbers, and short character descriptions that can be read over the PA. We could also use escorts.

I hope to see you there!
