May 20th, Point Pleasant NJ, Cystic Fibrosis Fundraiser Hi-4 has been re-invited to our longest running event and we'd like to have you join us. The CFF Great Strides fundraiser is held in a very scenic public park by the board walk. There's a considerable pre-walk and post-walk celebrations/event set and a lovably corny DJ making it a fine location for a mascot to mess about. The crowd is of considerable size with a lot of kids and we can use as many fursuiters as we can muster. Drinks and a dressing room are provided. Date: May 20th Time: 11:00 to 3:00 Size: 2000-3000 people PM me or reply to this message for more information so I can get you onboard for this event. | | Thursday, April 19th, 2012 | 11:23 am [rapidtrabbit]

Lawrenceville Jubilee.
We've been invited back the the Jubilee festival in Lawrenceville NJ. This is a nice little town fair kind of venue in an upscale NJ neighborhood. They have the normal compliment of activities for this sort of thing like bounce castles, funnel cake, pony rides and pie eating contests. It's a not a huge event but it's pretty well attended and it has a lot of kids and a lot of charm. For the fursuiters we get a an air conditioned dressing room and a supply of drinks. The event runs from Noon to 5:00 on Sunday, April 29th. There are currently two members of Hi-4 in attendance but We can do with a few cast and crew for this event. PM me or reply to this message to get in on this event. http://www.lawrencevillemainstreet.com/events/jubilee.htm# | | Thursday, April 5th, 2012 | 4:54 pm [el_wereturkey]

Earthday NY Earthfair at Grand Central Station.
On April 20th and 21st Hi-4 is doing its most highly attended event of the year. Earthfair is a street festival layout event that takes place right outside of Grand Central Station in Manhattan. There's a bunch of booths, giveaways, a live concert stage and, with our participation, a bunch of fursuiters roaming about. A lot of the crowd is incidental, people traveling through a major thoroughfare in New York but there's always tons of kids who want to play with the critters or tourists packing cameras. Dressing/break space is provided along with a good selection of snacks and the venue is excellent outside of the historical train station. It's a two day event. On Friday it runs from Noon till 7:00 (Though we usually pack up around 5). On Saturday the show is from 11:00 to 4:00. We can use performers and assistants for both days. PM me or reply to this message if you'd like to join. Specify which days you can make it. | | Tuesday, April 3rd, 2012 | 1:51 pm [freakylynx]

MS Walk - Sunday, May 6th
The annual Multiple Sclerosis Walk at the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY will take place on Sunday, May 6th. They would need us to be there by 8:30am. It will last til around 1pm (usually winds down shortly after noon). We will have a changing room, they have not yet confirmed if it will be the classroom we've used in the last few years but that is the most likely spot. The event takes place at the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY. We will be staying by the main building, hanging out with the parents and kids before and after their walk around the school. It's a smaller event, in the past we've done well with two or three suiters. Definitely need at least one handler for this event, the kids can get a bit energetic and it would be good to have someone watch out for any tailpullers in the bunch. Plan to meet in the parking lot. If you arrive later than the above time just follow the signs to the registration area and you'll run into either myself or someone else who can direct you to the changing area. Earthstock Connecticut, April 22, Tunxis Community College, Farmington, CT Earthstock Connecticut is an annual Earth Day fair held at Tunxis Community College in Farmington, CT. It typically has a good attendance and Hi-4 and other local fursuiters have been performing there since 2008. We are invited there again this year, and need performers, escorts, and photographers. If you are interested, please reply and say what your role will be. Please remember, this is a public event and best behavior is expected. This is not an informal furmeet, although one may be had at a restaurant afterward. Costumes and shenanigans should be family friendly and appropriate for the event. Earthstock starts at 10 a.m. and runs until 4 p.m. We should arrive around 9:30 a.m. to get ready. Like last year, we will have the cafeteria seating area as our changing area, and there should be water provided. Fans are a possibility, but it would be a good idea to bring your own. We will be allowed to park in the staff and faculty lot. (See photo below.) Follow this link for directions to Tunxis Community College:http://www.tunxis.commnet.edu/college/directions.phpThe address is 271 Scott Swamp Road, Farmington, CT 06032. | | Monday, March 26th, 2012 | 12:29 am [coyoty]

Penguin Plunge 2012: Recap
Another successful year at the Middletown Penguin Plunge, thank you again to all who were able to attend and help out at our seventh year attending :) This year in attendance were: coyoty freakylynxMustel panzierAnd additionally two escorts who came with Mustel, I'm sorry I don't remember their names. As per our usual, we mixed with the crowd during the registration period and having a great time with all. Panzier and I mixed it up near the radio station with some of the music, the Journey song was my favorite, Coyoty with his balancing plunger gave a lot of great picture moments for the crowd, and Mustel made a lot of the kids smile with his presence. Then at close to noon, which actually felt a little bit earlier this year, we began our line-up for the plunge. I braved the cold waters again this year, though honestly the wind seemed scarier this time around :P Afterwards we all grabbed a bit to eat at the nearby Coyote Blue - I think it's been a few years since we last stopped at that place, the portions were much larger than I remembered them last time ^.^;;; Speaking to our contact, he is definitely looking forward to seeing us again next year. Without any more wasted words, here are some of the photos from the event: ( Pictures ) | | Sunday, February 26th, 2012 | 3:07 am [coyoty]

27th Annual Ocean City NJ DooDah Parade on Sat. April 14
We are now organizing the annual furry costume character appearance of "Rapid T. Rabbit and Friends" at the DooDah Parade in Ocean City NJ, this year taking place on Saturday April 14. Those of you who have joined us previously know what a fun weekend on the Jersey shore it has been, and we hope that you can return again. This year's Grand Marshall is actor and vocal artist Chuck McCann, whose career has spanned generations, from his Live kids' TV show "Let's Have Fun" in New York that followed Soupy Sales on Channel 5, to movie roles such as Antinopolous in "The Heart Is A Lonely Hunter", starring in Saturday morning shows like "Far Out Space Nuts" (alongside Bob Denver previously from "Gilligan's Island"), voicing Dumptruck and Gibber on Disney's "TailSpin", and of course Sonny who goes "Cuckoo For Cocoa Puffs". You can read more about Chuck in the parade's initial press release... http://bobdbob.com/~rtrabbit/doodahparade/grandmarshall2012.htm and also Google his name for more information and videos on YouTube. We are asking everybody to *individually* signup in order to take part in our parade brigade (please not "I'm coming and oh yeah, bringing 3 others" etc.) by visiting http://doodah.surple.com . Please signup with your RL name and include additional details in the Comments field. Also everybody has to Read and Agree (certify by checkmark) to abide by the Hotel's rules, which apply to *Everybody* whether actually staying at the official hotel or visiting from elsewhere. The signup page will updated periodically with new information as the weekend draws near, or you can also be updated via the email list. If you aren't already on it, please also join the distributed email list for the event to keep up-to-date with news, late information or ask questions about the parade, event or weekend. The DL is administered by Protius, contact him to be added only if you are not already receiving messages from the DL. protius@bobdbob.com Looking forward to seeing everybody again on "The Real Jersey Shore"!
